Five-star reader review

“I love that the author states how hard it is to write a biography on someone who’s been dead for a very long time. I love how she does amazing work in bringing to life the timeline of events that happens with Chief Joseph. This is a great educational book about Native Culture & beliefs and how ‘white’ man came and some were willing to help while others just wanted the Indians gone. The doesn’t dance around harsh truths like the injustice nature of forcing out Indians nor the illegal acquiring of Indian owned livestock, and land. I recommend this book to those looking to understand more of what happened during this time period where so much history has been erased.”

“5 stars. Great book for the historian lover. She did a great job painting a picture of the man who had to face the white men who were determined to take his home away from his people. He kept to his morals and was a wonderful example of the better man in a white man’s world where there was not justice, fighting even until the end for his people’s return.”

A New Look at Chief Joseph “5.0 out of 5 stars. When I was in school, one of my teachers was a member of the Nez Perce tribe. He often talked about his heritage and Chief Joseph, which got me interested in researching more about him. I found this book to be insightful and interesting, offering some new views into Chief Joseph’s choices and leadership. I enjoyed that it was taken from the perspective of what an exceptional leader he was. Very interesting and engaging read.”

Wonderful Read About Chief Joseph “A wonderful book detailing Chief Joseph’s story. Lots of wonderful quotes from all sides. Do wish there was a bit more detail in the actual battles themselves, but overall a wonderful read!!”
